Michigan Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (or MMUTCD)

The Berrien County Road Commission is required by law to use the MMUTCD or Michigan Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. This manual covers such topics as signing, pavement markings, traffic signals and construction zones.

The MMUTCD has lists of traffic signs that can be used and also their proper size and installation.  The Manual also describes pavement markings and their specific uses.

Traffic sign, pavement marking and traffic signal placements are the result of an engineering study conducted by the Road Commission.
