Berrien County Road Commission

The Road Commission is governed by a board of five county road commissioners. The Commissioners are
appointed by the Berrien County Board of Commissioners for six year terms with alternating appointment years.
Geographical areas within the county are a consideration when appointments are made.

Your current Commissioners are:
Robert Forker Jr. - Chairman
Charles Collins - Vice Chairman
James Daniel - Commissioner
Isadore DiMaggio - Commissioner
Lawrence Merritt - Commissioner

The Board's regular meetings, to which the public is invited, are held at 9:00 a.m. every other Wednesday
at the Road Commision office at 2860 E. Napier Avenue, Benton Harbor.

The Road Commission has four maintenance garages which are located in Benton Harbor, Eau Claire,
Baroda and Buchanan.

Road Commission funding comes from motor vehicle license registration fees, gas and weight taxes
collected by the State of Michigan.

Road project funding comes from either federal aid provided by the
Federal Highway Administration or through the local township in which the project is located.
